We celebrated Mothering Sunday at St Mary’s with a special service focussing on this ancient Christian festival in the middle of Lent. Members of the congregation were each give a small wooden spoon decorated with a flower and a short prayer to remember our mothers. After the service, we were served with a delicious Simnel Cake with our coffee – again a longstanding tradition as part of the Mothering Sunday Festival.
